Overview of DBT
This presentation will provide a definition of DBT and brief description of its development, overview of theoretical underpinnings, basic principles, and assumptions of DBT, and discussion of application of DBT, including various programs and settings, as well as an overview of the 4 units of DBT.  Resources for additional learning will also be recommended.

Learning Objectives
By completing this program, participants will able to:
1.    Recognize what DBT is and when it might be a recommended treatment.?
2.    Summarize BioSocial theory and how it relates to the development of Borderline Personality Disorder.
3.    Describe the 4 units of DBT and a few skills from each unit.


Presenter: Aarika White, Ph.D

Dr. Aarika V. White is an Early Career Psychologist and active member of IPA.  She is currently the President-Elect for IPA and Communication Co-Chair, as well as a member of Practice Committee, Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors.  She has worked at Cummins BHS for the past year providing supervision, training, and clinical oversight.  She recently started a DBT skills group for adults in the Marion County office.  She learned DBT on her pre-doctoral internship in 2011-2012, and has helped many clients learn these skills over the past 8 years.  She lives in Fishers, IN with her husband and 2 labradoodles, Winnie and Rue.  Winnie is a certified therapy dog and primarily volunteers as Eskenazi Hospital bringing smiles to patients and staff.

Please note that APA rules require that credit be given only to those who attend the entire workshop.  Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leaving early will not receive CE credits.  Partial credit cannot be given.
 
Licensees who attend the entire webinar and complete the evaluation form will receive a CE certificate via email.
