Humbling Psychopharmacology Case Scenarios in Youth & Adults
Dr. Lowinsky will provide a series of case scenarios that have humbled him as psychiatrist and have taught him a great deal about the relationship with the patient and medication management. The scenarios will focus on complex issues of co-morbidity, cultural diversity, and current best practices in medication management. The presentation will have relevance to psychologists and other mental health professionals as they reflect on their own therapeutic relationships and their collaboration with medical providers.
Learning Objectives
By completing this program, participants will able to:
1. Identify three diagnostic categories under DSM-V that may be appropriate for psychopharmacological intervention.
2. Describe the challenges of building alliances for treatment across cultures.
3. Summarize the priorities in treating symptoms in co-morbid conditions.
4. Describe the different presentations in individuals with anxiety and depression.
Presenter Bio: Joshua Lowinsky, M.D.
Dr. Joshua Lowinsky is an adolescent and adult psychiatrist. He completed his general psychiatry residency at the University of Wisconsin and completed his adolescent psychiatry, consultation, and family systems fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Lowinsky is board certified in adult psychiatry.
His clinical practice is focused primarily on the treatment of adolescents, adults, medical professionals and their families who struggle with psychiatric disorders that impair their optimal functioning, both professionally and in their personal relationships.
He is particularly interested in the education and training of non-psychiatric medical and non-medical trainees and professionals in psychiatry.
He presents locally, regionally, and nationally to medical and non-medical audiences on topics related to psychiatry.

Please note that APA rules require that credit be given only to those who attend the entire workshop. Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time or leaving early will not receive CE credits. Partial credit cannot be given. We ask that all participants complete the post-program evaluation form and homestudy test at the conclusion of the program. Dr. Lowinsky and IPA have not received any commercial support for this program or its contents and will not receive any commercial support prior to or during this program.
CE certificates will be distributed via email within two weeks after a passing test (75+%) is submitted.
