This position is an extraordinary opportunity for someone passionate about providing therapy for highly motivated professional students, and provides job flexibility, and top notch benefits. Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an experienced therapist for a 12-month, full time position to offer individual therapy, couples counseling, and crisis intervention to the students in the College including veterinary nursing students, veterinary medical students, graduate students, interns, and residents. Students receive both in-person and virtual appointments. In addition to delivering culturally responsive therapy, the successful candidate will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. This individual will also facilitate some psychoeducational wellbeing programming, serve on the Wellness Committee, and provide consultation to faculty and staff as needed.

Unique Highlights of this Position:

As one of two therapists in Counseling and Wellness Services, the candidate will be part of a supportive team of individuals working under the umbrella of Student Services within the College of Veterinary Medicine. While the primary focus is delivering clinical services, there is active collaboration with a learning specialist, academic advisors, clinical faculty, and the Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence to ensure our students’ needs are well understood and that we are able to provide a strong support network which facilitates their educational experience as they prepare for lifelong career success and life satisfaction. This position comes with the option of remote work one day per week. No after-hours on-call is required. Evening hours are required weekly but this comes with having mornings off. 
 

Required: 

  • Master’s degree in mental health field with 4 years of work experience providing adult clinical services
  • Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and competence to work with diverse student populations
  • Must be capable of evening work
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in designing and delivering psychoeducational programs
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in adhering to agency policies and professional ethics including following documentation requirements
  • Experience with telehealth services
  • Must be eligible to be immediately licensed in the state of Indiana to allow independent practice without restriction

 
Preferred:

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work with 2 years of work experience providing clinical services to adults
  • Teaching experience
  • University Counseling Center Experience
  • Specific interest and expertise in one or more of the following: working with underrepresented students, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, learning disabilities
