Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychological Services. We are seeking a clinician to join in our continued innovation and advancement of our clinical services, training, and interdisciplinary partnerships in our pain management practices. The psychologist will have a designated clinic office as well as access to therapy and testing rooms. In addition to traditional duties associated with being a doctoral level psychologist, we are seeking a clinician with leadership qualities who can assume a dynamic and advanced position and is motivated to help us build a strong behavioral medicine/psychological presence within the communities we serve.

The clinical psychologist will offer support to our healthcare providers by providing psychological services to include helping patients define goals and monitor progress, conducting individual pain-focused psychotherapy and behavioral medicine, and collaborating with other healthcare providers to evaluate and develop treatment plans. This position reports to the Chief Clinical Psychologist.

Patient Population
APC serves a population that is diverse as it relates to gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religious affiliation, age, and sexual orientation. We work with diverse medical and psychological presentations. Approximately 90% of patients seen for Psychological Services will be those that present with challenges commonly present within a Behavioral Medicine setting. Despite these patients presenting with pain and medical related challenges, providers also diagnose and treat co-occurring mental health conditions including substance use/dependency, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, somatization disorders, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (What You’ll Do)

  • Deliver individual, pain-focused psychotherapy (e.g., coping skills for chronic pain/co-morbid health conditions, behavioral modification, psychoeducation on chronic pain management strategies and treatment options) to patients ages 18 and over.
  • Help clients define goals and plan action to achieve personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
  • Perform a minimum of 28 direct patient care clinical hours/week.
  • Provide ongoing professional consultation and collaboration with the clinic's interdisciplinary pain treatment team (e.g., Anesthesiology, NPs/PAs, Physical Therapy). Develop and implement treatment plans and therapeutic processes related to chronic pain.
  • Monitor client progress through regular meetings or sessions.
  • Ongoing assessment of opioid appropriateness and medication adherence.
  • Administer, score, and upload patient demographics and data from screening tools.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients’ treatment and records in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Opportunity to participate in clinical training seminars and supervise doctoral students by acting as a mentor and teaching where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications (What We Are Looking For)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and/or Experience Requirements 

  • Active State Psychologist license in practicing state (or license-eligible)
  • Experience in behavioral medicine/health psychology is required. Experience in pain management is strongly preferred.
  • Applicants are not required to utilize a particular theoretical orientation for their work. However, familiarity with DBT, ACT, CBT, MBSR, and MI is preferred.

Schedule
Onsite at clinic for all scheduled hours. Candidate may choose from a 4 or 5 day work week consisting of 40 in office hours allowing for at minimum 28 direct patient care hours per week.

Salary
Commensurate with qualifications and years of experience, specifically within the specialty of delivering Behavioral Medicine / Health Psychological Services.
