The Indiana University Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology is seeking applications for a part-time adjunct instructor whose responsibilities will consist of teaching one 3-credit course during the Fall 2022 semester, EDUC-P 624 Biological Bases of Behavior.
The selected individual will be responsible for teaching Biological Bases of Behavior to doctoral-level students. This course examines the biological bases of behavior and general principles of brain organization, covering topics such as the mechanisms of sleep and alertness, memory, language, emotional processes, and brain development. Implications for substance abuse, psychiatric disorders, medication use, developmental and behavioral disorders, and mind-body health psychology are also examined. Applicants should have:
·A Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or related field (Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Human Development, Neuroscience);
·Expertise or training in psychobiology, neuroscience, genomics, biomarkers, and/or behavioral (social, affective, cognitive) approaches to understanding human behavior;
·Excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching.
Regarding modality, the instructor has a choice of teaching the course asynchronously or synchronously via Zoom (the course meets once a week for 2½ hours). The course will run from August 22, 2022 – December 16, 2022.
