President's Greeting

Dr. Shannon Woller

We are now in the time of year with busy schedules and multiple commitments. We hope all of you are taking care of yourselves and balancing work and rest.

Registration is still open for our IPA annual Fall Conference. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from our talented fellow members. You can earn up to 12.5 hours of CE credit. You will want those credits next August, so we offer them now.

We will also be presenting five well-deserved professional awards at the Fall Conference. These deserving recipients have been strong supporters of IPA and the psychology profession. We look forward to recognizing them at the Conference.

We also want to recognize all our presenters at this year’s Fall Conference. We appreciate their presentations, value the content they will be sharing, and thank them for their efforts.

And a big ‘Thank You’ to our Conference sponsors for this year. We appreciate their support and encourage our members to acknowledge their generosity.

Just a reminder to invite your psychologist colleagues to become members of IPA. They will then appreciate the benefits of their professional organization that represents them in the state.

Enjoy the Fall Conference.

Be well,
Shannon

Shannon Woller, PsyD, ABPP, HSPP

2025 IPA President

IPA Student Committee Updates

The IPA Student Committee is pleased to announce our upcoming event Pathways in Psychology: Finding Your Career Specialty. The event will be held on Monday, November 17th, at 6:30 p.m. We will feature a panel of psychologists from different areas of the psychology profession. Some career areas included will be private practice, university counseling centers, hospital settings, and mental health centers. The panelists will discuss and respond to questions about their graduate school experiences, what led them to their current career, and what a typical workday is like for them.

The event is focused on doctoral students, especially those who are still early in their graduate school journey. Our hope is that the personal information provided by our panelists will be helpful to students in deciding what area of psychology they would like to pursue for their career. In addition, students can learn what types of clinical and other career experiences they might pursue to reach their goals!

Additionally, the IPA Student Committee is always seeking new members who are interested in leadership opportunities. Pursuing leadership through IPA and the Student Committee is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience collaborating with other graduate students, as well as IPA member psychologists. If you are interested, please reach out to Sydney Majka, the current Chair of the IPA Student Committee, at sydney.majka@bsu.edu. Sydney will be happy to answer your questions and provide more information about the IPA Student Committee.

A Special Thank You

At last year’s Fall Conference, we presented the Distinguished Contributions to Psychology Over a Career award. This award is for a psychologist who has made distinguished contributions to psychology in Indiana over their career.

IPA presented this award to Greg Hale, PhD, HSPP because of his distinguished contributions.

Greg officially retired recently from practice and from his volunteer work with IPA. So, we just want to extend another “Thank you” to him for his professional service to IPA and to our psychology community.

Thank you, Greg.
