Concussion and Post-concussive syndrome: Overview and Clinical Implications
This presentation will provide an introduction into concussion and post-concussive syndrome. We will discuss definitions, epidemiology, symptoms, and expected recovery trajectories for both concussion and post-concussive syndrome. We will review clinical considerations for working with individuals experiencing concussion and post-concussive syndrome and resources available to providers and patients. 

Learning Objectives
By completing this program, participants will able to:
1.   Summarize the definitions, epidemiology, and common symptoms of both concussion and post-concussive syndrome. 
2.   Describe the difference between concussion and post-concussive syndrome including differences in prognosis, outcomes, and treatment.
3.   List and describe treatment modifications and resources that can be utilized when working with patients in acute stages of concussion recovery and those with post-concussive syndrome.

Presenter Bio: Lauren A. Frick, Psy.D.
Dr. Lauren A. Frick (she/her) is a native Texan. She completed her undergraduate degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, but fell in love with the Midwest while completing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. After returning to the South for one year to complete her doctoral internship at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, she moved back to the Midwest to complete her fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Indiana University School of Medicine. She is a rising second year in the clinical neuropsychology fellowship program. Her clinical and research interests include concussion, acquired brain injury, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases. When she is not working, she enjoys reading, thrifting, and exploring local coffee shops and restaurants.

The Indiana Psychological Association (IPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Indiana Psychological Association maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
 
Indiana State Psychology Board and Indiana Behavioral Health Board:
  • IPA is an approved provider of Category I continuing education for psychologists.
  • IPA is an approved provider of Category I continuing education for LSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LMFTA, LCAC and LAC.
Licensees must judge the program’s relevance to their professional practice. Non-Indiana licensees are also advised to check with their state's licensing board to assure their state accepts continuing education programs approved by entities approved by the APA.
 
We ask that all participants watch the entire recorded presentation, and complete the post-program evaluation form and homestudy test at the conclusion of the program. Dr. Frick and IPA have not received any commercial support for this program or its contents and will not receive any commercial support prior to or during this program.
 
CE certificates will be distributed via email within two weeks after a passing test (75+%) is submitted.
