Program Description:  A Proposed Objective Structured Clinical Examination for Evaluating Student Competencies In Health Service Psychology

The objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) has been utilized in numerous healthcare fields to evaluate clinical trainee competences not suited for traditional examinations. The OSCE is under-utilized assessment tool in the evaluation of trainees in health service psychology.

Learning Objectives:
By completing this program, participants will be able to:
  1. summarize the pedological theories of OSCEs. 
  2. apply the OSCE development process to match curriculum and professional competencies.
  3. describe how OSCEs can be used to evaluate trainees.
  4. list some of the current limitations associated with current health service psychology clinical training

Presenter Bio:  Kelvin Hakemi, M.A. 
Kelvin Hakemi is a graduate student at the University of Indianapolis in the Clinical Psychology Doctorate program. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University. He was a standardized patient for Central Michigan University’s Medical School and Administrator of Medical Simulation for the Interdisciplinary Education and Practice Center. His clinical interests include neuropsychology, health psychology, and therapeutic assessment. 

Kelvin Hakemi, M.A

Presenter Bio:  Hannah Buck, PsyD, HSPP
Dr. Hannah Buck is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she is a supervisor in the Clinical Neuropsychology Residency program and to doctoral-level graduate students. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis (2013) and a master’s degree from Roosevelt University (2016). She obtained her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (2021). She interned at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health (2020-2021) and completed her residency at Indiana University School of Medicine (2021-2023). Her clinical interests include neurodegenerative disorders, acquired brain dysfunction, and cognitive changes in psychiatric disorders.

The Indiana Psychological Association (IPA) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Indiana Psychological Association maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
 
Indiana State Psychology Board and Indiana Behavioral Health Board:
  • IPA is an approved provider of Category I continuing education for psychologists.
  • IPA is an approved provider of Category I continuing education for LSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LMFTA, LCAC and LAC.
Licensees must judge the program’s relevance to their professional practice. Non-Indiana licensees are also advised to check with their state's licensing board to assure their state accepts continuing education programs approved by entities approved by the APA.
 
We ask that all participants watch the entire recorded presentation, and complete the post-program evaluation form and homestudy test at the conclusion of the program. Kelvin, Dr. Buck, and IPA have not received any commercial support for this program or its contents and will not receive any commercial support prior to or during this program.
 
CE certificates will be distributed via email within two weeks after a passing test (75+%) is submitted.
