Executive Greeting

Well, Spring is here, the first quarter is completed, most spring breaks are behind us, there is rain in Indiana, warmer days are occurring, there is more daylight, but not enough hours in most days, COVID is mostly calm, and our monthly NEWSletter is here. So – all is good with IPA.

April is a busy month with our annual Ethics Conference, Working with Trauma: Clinical, Legal, and Ethical Considerations, on April 22 providing six hours of Ethics CE credits. This conference is available in person or virtually. Registration closes on Wednesday, April 20, so complete your registration quickly.

Our April webinar, A Psychiatrist's Humbling Encounters with Marginalized Populations: Case Scenarios, and our May webinar, Understanding Patients’ Financial Stress: Assessment and Treatment Strategies, on the 20th of each month, offer additional Category I hours.

As we continue to comment - If you have ideas about how IPA can continue to support you and our profession, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can always send a note to us at info@indianapsychology.org or you can email our President, Jill Fodstad, at jfodstad@iupui.edu.

Thank you for being active members with IPA.

APA Council Elections

If you are also a member of APA, you will soon be receiving a ballot to elect our next representative for the APA Council. The Council is an important method to ensure APA is aware of the critical issues and directions of our state organizations.

Dana Lasek has been our APA Council Representative for many years and has given outstanding representation for Indiana Psychologists. Dana completes her term at the end of this year.

Our IPA candidate for the term beginning in 2023 is Jill Fodstad. Jill has a long history of volunteer positions supporting the growth of psychology. She is the ideal person to represent Indiana and follow Dana's successful representation.

Melissa Butler is also on the ballot for the position, but to quote Melissa, "Please vote for Jill."

PSYPACT News

Indiana will become a member of PSYPACT on July 1 of this year!

This compact facilitates telehealth and temporary in-person practice of psychology across state boundaries. This agreement now allows Indiana licensed Psychologists to provide telehealth with patients located in thirty other states, with pending legislation in six additional states.

IPA has been pursuing this capability for over three years. This success demonstrates the value of IPA for Psychologists. IPA solicited support of Legislators, testified before the appropriate committees, coordinated factual details, and continued to stress the value for Indiana residents.

After July 1, you will be able to apply for PSYPACT privileges.

The link for PSYPACT is:
About Us - Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) (site-ym.com)

At this site you can learn more about PSYPACT, sign up for the listserv, and learn how to practice under PSYPACT.

Thank you to all who participated in making PSYPACT a realty for Indiana Psychology.
